Yalta - Kiev, 13 days (M/S Fidelio)
Day 2 - Yalta : In the morning, city tour of extraordinary Yalta. The loveliest among Black Sea resorts lies in a natural amphitheater framed by the Crimean Mountains and the sea. It was once the retreat of the tsars and Russian nobility; later it became the playground of Soviet leaders. Yalta has a magical reputation for its sunshine, fine wines and relaxed living. Visit Levadia Palace, built in 1911 for Tsar Nicolas II, which hosted the Yalta Conference in February 1945. During this extraordinary event, the leaders of the three Allied powers - Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin - decided on the postwar division of Europe. Optional visit to Nikitskiy Botanical Garden. Optional tour to Chekhov Museum. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 3 - Yalta : Free time. Explore Yalta on your own. Whatever your interest, our local hosts ease your way by making all arrangements for optional tours. Optional city tour of Sevastopol with trip to Bakhechesaray. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4 - Kherson : Check out from hotel and transfer to Kherson. (Distance: 350 km, app. 5 hours driving). Embarkation. Captain's cocktail. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 5 - Ochakov - Odessa : Early morning arrival in Ochakov. Full day tour to Odessa. Thanks to its old romantic traditions, Odessa is considered one of the world's most fascinating cities. The inimitable coloring of the city is sustained not only by the sea, the aroma of acacia flowers and velvety summer nights, but also by marvelous monuments of 19th-century architecture. Unique in their beauty, the Opera House, the Museum of Western and Oriental Art, the Museum of Archaeology and, of course, the famous Potemkin Staircase are symbols of the city's splendid past and superb present. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 6 - Kherson : This morning, arrive in Kherson, Take an opportunity to learn its rich history and admire its unique architecture. Enjoy a boat trip to the Dnepr Delta. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 7 - Zaporozhye : Morning arrival in Zaporozhye, panoramic city tour. The city is more than 200 years old and situated about 350 miles southeast of Kiev. Archaeological finds suggest that Scythian nomads were living here 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. In the 15th to 17th centuries it was the Cossack fortress Zaporozkskaya Sech. Optional Cossack Horse Show Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 8 - Dnepropetrovsk : City tour of Dnepropetrovsk, formerly Yekaterinoslav, Ukraine's fourth largest city, with 1 million inhabitants. A vital industrial center of Ukraine, it was one of the key centers of the nuclear, arms and space industries of the former Soviet Union. It is home to Yuzhmash, a major space and ballistic missile designer and manufacturer. Optional visit to Airspace Museum. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 9 - Kremenchug : Arrive in Kremenchug. In 1638 Kremenchug fortress was erected, its design created by French military engineer Giyom Levasser de Bonplan, who compiled a book "Ukraine Description." The record of Kremenchug as a place to live dates to the 17th century, near one of the forts associated with Tatars who crossed the Dnepr River. Today Kremenchug is an important industrial city in central Ukraine. Visit to a typical Ukrainian village. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 10 - Cherkassy : Arrival in Cherkassy, city tour. Cherkassy, known since the 13th century, played a great role in the history of Ukraine and was the center of Cossack life. Optional visit to the Museum of Local History Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 11 - Kiev : Morning arrival in Kiev, capital of Ukraine. After breakfast a half-day city tour. Includes "Vladimir's Old Town" - the place where Prince Vladimir the Baptist founded his Kremlin and built the first Christian church in Kievan Rus State. See the panorama ground (a marvelous view of the Lower Old Town called Podol) and Dnepr River (third-longest in Europe). See the Golden Gate of Kiev, University Building, Opera House, Kreshchatik Street (main Kiev boulevard), Arch of Friendship Monument to the founders of the city of Kiev and St. Vladimir's Cathedral. Optional visit to St. Sophia Cathedral - Kiev's oldest surviving church, built in 1037 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise to glorify Christianity, with 13 majestic domes, ancient frescoes and mosaics. Optional trip to Open Air Museum. Optional boat trip "Kiev by Night" with folk show. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 12 - Kiev : Optional visit to Kiev Monastery of the Caves, a historic Orthodox Christian monastery that gave its name to the city district where it is located in Kiev. Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1015 the Lavra has been a preeminent center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. Together with Saint Sophia Cathedral, it is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Optional Ukrainian National Choir concert. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 13 - Kiev : Time to bid farewell to your new friends after your unforgettable journey. Disembarkation.
